Instrukcje dla autorów

ACTA BIOLOGICA CRACOVIENSIA SERIES ZOOLOGIA is an English-language journal founded in 1958, devoted to animal cytology, karyology, embryology, tissue culture, physiology and biosystematics. It is published once a year.

1. ACTA BIOLOGICA CRACOVIENSIA SERIES ZOOLOGIA publishes original papers embodying the results of experimental or theoretical research. Manuscripts will be considered only on the understanding that they have not been published and are not being considered for publication elsewhere.

2. Manuscripts including illustrations should be sent to the editor:

Manuscripts will be examined by two referees before any decision is made with regard to acceptance or changes required.

3. Manuscripts should be submitted in electronically. The manuscripts should be double-spaced with a broad margin. Font: Times New Roman, 12 points.

4. The length of the manuscript should not exceed 20 printed pages including tables and figures.

5. Each paper should be headed by the title of the paper, author’s name, institution, address (e-mail address) and running title (no more than 50 characters), and should be preceded by 5 Key words and a short Abstract. The paper should be divided into the following section: Introduction, Materials and Method, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements (if any) and References.

6. References in the tex, t should be cited in the following form: Newton (1990) or Newton and Berrie (1982) or (Ward, 1950; Hiroshi and Ohta, 1970). For three or more authors, use the form: Zinkowski et al. (1991).

7. Tables should be typed on separate sheets and placed after the main text. The title should be brief and written in the upper part of the table.

8. Figures should be drawn using special programme Line images/graphs. File types: EPS, TIFF, high-resolution PDF, AI (Adobe Illustrator).

9. Photographs should be submitted the same size as they are to appear in the journal; they should be either 83 mm or 170 mm wide, and the size of a mounted plate must not exceed 170 × 225 mm. The photos should be submitted in electronic version. Figure captions should be given on a separate sheet. For photographs without an integral scale the magnification of photographs must be stated in the legend. Color illustrations will be accepted; however, the author will be expected to contribute towards the extra costs.

10. Accepted manuscripts must be submitted electronically. File type: preferred file types are TIFF, EPS, PDF or MS Office files.

Every paper will be checked for style and grammar. The editors reserve the right to introduce corrections suggested by the journal’s copy editor. Only papers requiring complete revision in this regard will be returned to the authors for approval.
