This paper presents the results of research on self-vibrations of rotary systems with segmental tilting-pad journal bearings having different frequencies of rotor revolution. The problem of research formulated in this work concerns technical characteristics of primary elements of the investigated system and its principle of operation. The obtained results are illustrated with graphs. The paper also contains comparison of results and discussion. General conclusions are given at the end of the paper.

The article presents the problem of structural friction appearing in a screw joint with frictional effects between its elements. In the article, two mathematical models of screw joint are analysed. In the first model, high stiffness of a nut is assumed. In the second model, the influence of both cooperating elements (the screw and nut) is assumed.

Three-layered, annular plate with viscoelastic core is subjected to loads acting in the plane of the plate facings. One formulates the dynamic, stability problem concerning the action of time-dependent compressive stress on a plate with imperfection. This problem has been solved. One created the basic system of differential equations in which the approximation finite difference method was used for calculations. The essential analysis of the problem was concentrated on evaluation of the influence of the plate imperfection rate and the rate of plate loading growth on the results of calculation of critical parameters at the moment of loss of plate stability. It determines the analysed problem of sensitivity of the plate to imperfection and loading. In the evaluation of the dynamics of this problem, the dynamic factor defined as the quotient of the critical, dynamic load to the static one was used. The idea of dynamic factor and the type of the accepted criterion of the loss of plate stability were taken from the Volmir's work. The observations were confirmed by comparable results of calculations of plate models built in finite element method using the ABAQUS system. The analysis of the stress state in an exemplary plate model calculated in FEM demonstrated the importance of the strength condition in total evaluation of the plate work. One achieved satisfactory correctness of results in both methods.

The Copper-SiC composite was investigated with the help of FEM. The authors modeled and analyzed the effect of relaxation of thermal stresses due to seasoning at room temperature after the manufacturing process together with the effect of thermal stresses induced by reheating the material to a service temperature. Especially, hypothetical fracture at interface was of interest. It was shown that, for a fixed temperature, a single crack emanating at 0° or 45° azimuth would develop only along a portion of fiber perimeter, and a further growth would require stress increase in the fiber surrounding.

The paper compares the geometrical surface structure of modelled tooth flanks of cylindrical gear obtained by a three dimensional simulation of gear generation with the geometrical surface structure of real gear obtained through chiselling by Fellows method. The paper presents the methodology of modelling tooth flanks of cylindrical gears in the CAD environment. The modelling consists in computer simulation of gear generation. The computer simulation of the gear generation was performed in the Mechanical Desktop environment. Metrological measurements of the real gear were carried out using a coordinated measuring machine and a profilometer.
