Iron production’s waste materials include significant quantities of blast furnace slag (BFS) which could potentially be used as a substitute for natural aggregates in hot mix asphalt (HMA) used in highway projects. Although many of properties of slag are interesting, its porosity and absorption rate would lead to greater consumption of asphalt. For this study, a Portland cement (PC) paste was used to reduce the porosity of a BFS. This PC treated BFS (called BFS-C) was then used in an HMA to replace the coarse fraction of a natural aggregate. Marshall, Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS), resilient modulus and Cantabro tests were then carried out on different HMA mixtures that included BFS-C. Using BFS-C, HMA’s resistance under monotonic loading, stiffness under cyclic loading, and resistance to moisture damage increased remarkably. In addition, the Cantabro abrasion resistance of BFS-C improved was better than that of the HMA mixture produced with untreated BFS.

Matematyczny opis zależności pomiędzy zdjęciem i terenem odgrywa ważną rolę w opracowaniu fotogrametrycznym, zwłaszcza dla wysokorozdzielczych obrazów satelitarnych. Obecnie, opracowanie wysokorozdzielczych obrazów satelitarnych dla tworzenia ortofotornap, generowania DEM/DTM jest zagadnieniem najczęściej opisywanym w literaturze. Budowa modeli sensora jest podstawą dla przetwarzania wysokorozdzielczych obrazów satelitarnych. W ostatnich latach, prace badawcze w wielu ośrodkach na świecie koncentrowały się na budowie modeli sensora. Modele sensorów mogą być podzielone na dwie grupy: wielomianowe (lub zastępcze) i parametryczne (lub fizyczne). Modele wielomianowe opisują pośrednią zależność pomiędzy terenem i obrazem bez potrzeby znajomości parametrów orbity. Modele parametryczne opisują zaś bezpośrednią zależność pomiędzy terenem i obrazem przy użyciu parametrów orbity satelity. W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono przegląd praktycznych dokładności modeli wysokorozdzielczych obrazów, zbadanych w ciągu ostatnich lat w różnych ośrodkach naukowo-badawczych.

This article examines the relationship of Maryla Wolska with the poets and artists of the Young Poland in Lwów and, more broadly, with the literary community of the early 20th century. She was a leading light of Płanetnicy (The Rainmakers), an informal group of artists who met at her house in Lwów. The role of a friend and mate, someone who was treated equally as a writer, did not sit well, however, with her role as mistress of the house, hostess of a literary salon and representative of a family which occupied a high position in the social hierarchy. To ride on the crest of the wave she strove to combine two strategies, a modern jauntiness and a studious attention to 19th-century proprieties. Although she did well for herself, her success was by no means complete.
