Abstract

The article analyzes reflections on the child in the most notable works of the 18th‑century Ukrainian historical narrative: the chronicles of Samovidets, Hryhoriy Hrabianka, Samiilo Velychko, and Istoria Rusiv. These works, being the only historical thought reflections of the Hetman State, had no equal. Later they were to become the basis for constructing the modern vision of the Cossack past on the part of 19th‑century Ukrainian historians, writers, and public figures. The focus is on those plots and contexts where the authors addressed children’s topics. The 18th‑century vision of childhood is investigated on that basis, along with the impact these stories had on later recipients and the formation of modern ideas about childhood in “old Ukraine”. Attempted is also a study of children’s topics as a tool for describing and constructing the past in Baroque rhetoric and historical narratives.

Abstract

Current practice of waste generation and management in Ukraine has led to an increase in the area of landfills and a loss of the beneficial potential of waste. Today, territorial communities in Ukraine have received enormous new powers within the framework of decentralization, in particular, waste management is now under their jurisdiction. In order to implement the National Waste Management Strategy in Ukraine 2030 and the National Waste Management Plan 2030, communities need to activate the areas of effective disposal of household solid waste (HSW), and for this purpose it is necessary to take into account European norms and standards in this area, as well as share successful Ukrainian and foreign experience. The aim of the study is to analyze a successful case of waste management of a separate community in Ukraine (Illintsi United Territorial Community) as an example for other communities, as well as to develop guidelines for bioenergy recycling of waste in the community under the study with the production of RDF fuel and biogas in order to provide energy resources and improve the condition of the environment. To achieve this goal, there were used the following methods: monographic, deductive, inductive, analysis and synthesis, economic analysis, graphic and tabular, statistical, as well as the case-study method. The conducted research confirmed the growth of waste generation volumes in Ukraine and their limited beneficial use. The developed recommendations on the improvement of the household solid waste management based on the successful case of Illintsi Territorial Community and proposals for organizing the production of RDF fuel and biogas can become a strong basis for the development of communities on the basis of sustainability.

Abstract

The disadvantages of the conventional model predictive current control method for the grid-connected converter (GCC) with an inductance-capacitance-inductance (LCL) filter are a large amount of calculation and poor parameter robustness. Once parameters of the model are mismatched, the control accuracy of model predictive control (MPC) will be reduced, which will seriously affect the power quality of the GCC. The article intuitively analyzes the sensitivity of parameter mismatch on the current predictive control of the conventional LCL-filtered GCC. In order to solve these issues, a model-free predictive current control (MFPCC) method for the LCL-filtered GCC is proposed in this paper. The contribution of this work is that a novel current predictive robust controller for the LCL-filtered GCC is designed based on the principle of the ultra-local model of a single input single output system. The proposed control method does not require using any model parameters in the controller, which can effectively suppress the disturbances of the uncertain parameter variations. Compared with conventional MPC, the proposed MFPCC has smaller current total harmonic distortion (THD). When the filter parameters are mismatched, the control error of the proposed method is smaller. Finally, a comparative experimental study is carried out on the platform of Typhoon and PE-Expert4 to verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed MFPCC method for the LCL-filtered GCC.

Abstract

In accordance with the principles of sustainable construction, the results of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) technique are useful inputs to the decision-making process when designing a building. This article presents such an analysis of a finished building product, which is a modified concrete mix. The calculations took into account the phases of the A1–A4 cycle, i.e. from the extraction of raw materials to the transport of the finished material to the construction site. Test results for concrete mixes and 28-day solid concrete are presented in tabular form. Based on all the test results obtained, it was found that the addition of waste polypropylene fibres has a positive effect on the key properties for the floor concrete. It has been found that proper processing of banding tapes or other polypropylene waste into macro-fibres can be a good example of proper waste management and can contribute to a significant reduction in residual waste. This additive is emission-free and sourced from recycling, making it an excellent alternative to commonly used dispersed reinforcement.
