Abstract

High-speed serial standards are rapidly developing, and with a requirement for effective compliance and characterization measurement methods. Jitter decomposition consists in troubleshooting steps based on jitter components from decomposition results. In order to verify algorithms with different deterministic jitter (DJ) in actual circuits, jitter generation model by cross-point calibration and timing modulation for jitter decomposition is presented in this paper. The generated jitter is pre-processed by cross-point calibration which improves the accuracy of jitter generation. Precisely controllable DJ and random jitter (RJ) are generated by timing modulation such as data-dependent jitter (DDJ), duty cycle distortion (DCD), bounded uncorrelated jitter (BUJ), and period jitter (PJ). The benefit of the cross-point calibration was verified by comparing generation of controllable jitter with and without cross-point calibration. The accuracy and advantage of the proposed method were demonstrated by comparing with the method of jitter generation by analog modulation. Then, the validity of the proposed method was demonstrated by hardware experiments where the jitter frequency had an accuracy of 20 ppm, the jitter amplitude ranged from 10 ps to 8.33 ns, a step of 2 ps or 10 ps, and jitter amplitude was independent of jitter frequency and data rate.

Abstract

The issues of local stability and ultimate resistance of a continuous beam with thin-walled box section (Class 4) were reduced to the analysis of the local buckling of bilaterally elastically restrained internal plate of the compression flange at longitudinal stress variation. Critical stress of the local buckling was determined using the so-called Critical Plate Method (CPM). In the method, the effect of the elastic restraint of the component walls of the bar section and the effect of longitudinal stress variation that results from varying distribution of bending moments were taken into account. On that basis, appropriate effective characteristics of reliable sections were determined. Additionally, ultimate resistances of those sections were estimated. The impact of longitudinal stress variation and of the degree of elastic restraint of longitudinal edges on, respectively, the local buckling of compression flanges in the span section (p) and support section (s) was analysed. The influence of the span length of the continuous beam and of the relative plate slenderness of the compression flange on the critical ultimate resistance of box sections was examined.

Abstract

The transition effect between different track-foundation systems is examined from the point of view of energy that is produced during the passage of load. Analytical solution is given. A model of beam on elastic foundation with damping is used as the base model. It is developed into a model composed of two parts that represent the track-subgrade system with an abrupt change in mechanical parameters: bending stiffness, foundation stiffness, damping, and mass. Several calculations are carried out including examples of comparative calculations with the Finite Difference Model and the Finite Element Model. Transient rail deflections and energy are determined, which may serve to estimate the rate of track-subgrade deterioration.

Abstract

The article tries to find a possible model of role that the papal office can play for ec-umenical dialogue. First, the author reviews opinions about the pope and his office issued by the Evangelical Church in the 16th century, especially in Martin Luther’s theology. In the second step, there is an analysis of the ‘pope’ understanding presented by the modern Polish Lutheran theology. According to the applied method of “unity in reconciled diversity” it seems that the pope, as a head of the Roman Catholic Church could be understood as primus inter pares. The article develops the possible consequence of this papal duty in the vision of the ecumenical Pentarchy. It would be an ecumenical collaboration between the 5 biggest traditions of the modern Christianity: Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Eastern Pre-Chalcedonian Churches, Anglicanism and Lutheran Protestantism. This model does not mean a way to the institutional primacy of the Bishop of Rome.
