Abstract

Analytical relations, describing the electrical fields of cylindrical piezoceramic radiators with circular polarization as a member of the cylindrical systems with the baffle in the inner cavity, using the related fields method in multiply connected regions were obtained. Comparative analysis of the results of numerical experiments performed on the frequency characteristics of the electric field of the radiating systems for different modes of radiation allow to establish a number of subtle effects of the formation of the electric field of radiators.

Abstract

Bridges built across a river bend and supported by more than one pier has been experimentally studied regarding the shape and nature of erosion and deposition. For this purpose, a U-shaped laboratory channel was used with two oblong piers installed at different locations. The first one was at the mid-section of the upstream straight reach, whereas in the second site within the bend, the piers have been installed at sections of central angles 0°, 30°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 150°, 170°, and 180°, from the beginning to the end of the bend segment respectively. The studies were conducted under clear water and threshold flow conditions. The results show that the higher and lower values of local scour around the pier positioned close to the outer bank, are 1.803 and 0.623 times the pier width when the bridge was installed at an angle of 90° and 30° respectively. As for the pier close to the inner bank, the deepest local scour was 1.786 times of the pier width when the bridge was installed at 60° of the bend, while the least one was 0.516 times of the pier width when the bridge was located in the 180° sector. It is worth noting that the presence of piers within sector 150 is less affected by local scour than in the other sections.

Abstract

This study was intended to determine the effect of adding flax seeds to a concentrate for lamb fattening on the fatty acid composition of the omental fat depot in Pramenka lambs reared indoors. A total of 63 lambs (10±3 kg of live body weight, 30±7 days of age, 30 males and 33 females) were used. They were divided into two groups: a control (CON) fed on hay, ewe’s milk, and a 300-g daily ration of a commercial concentrate, and an experimental group (FS) fed on hay, ewe’s milk and 300 g/day of the concentrate enriched with 5% of flax seeds. After a 60-day fattening period for each group, 10 lambs (5 males and 5 females) were selected and omental fat samples were analysed for fatty acid composition. Highly significant differences (p<0.001) were found between CON and FS in α-linolenic acid, the sum of n-3 fatty acids, and the ratio n-6/n-3 fatty acids. The effect of sex on the fatty acid content in the fat depot was only significant for C20:0 fatty acid (p<0.05).

Abstract

This paper presents the results of studies on functional possibilities of the optimization of geometric sizes and the design development of specialized resonance concentrating link (concentrator-sonotrode) with enlarged radiating surface. Developed theoretical model allows to determine the value of longitudinal and transverse sizes of each part of concentrating link providing the achievement of required features of the ultrasonic vibrating systems (gain factor of the unit and its resonance frequency). To verify the efficiency of designed model, the geometric sizes of resonance concentrating link were determined using the finite-element complex, which showed that the disagreement did not exceed 10%. The efficiency of proposed model at the determining of size and resonance characteristics of concentrating link was proved by the experiments. Theoretical and experimental studies helped to optimize the size of concentrating link while the vi- brating system developed on its base enabled the enlargement of radiating surface without decreasing the radiation intensity for the realization of technologies of cavitation treatment of liquid media

Abstract

It is shown that decrease and damping of the traction force at the end of the plunger move is possible not only due to application of a special keeper design, but also due to change of the plunger shank geometric form. The computer modeling with the use of finite element method is used to analyze the influence of system geometry on force distribution along plunger movement. The damping effect is confirmed when special shape plunger shanks are used.
