Abstract

Angle calibrations are widely used in various fields of science and technology, while in the high-precision angle calibrations, a complete closure method which is complex and time-consuming is common. Therefore, in order to improve the measurement efficiency and maintain the accuracy of the complete closure method, an improved calibration method was proposed and verified by the calibration of a high-precision angle comparator with sub-arc-second level. Firstly, a basic principle and algorithm of angle calibration based on complete closure and symmetry connection theory was studied. Then, depending on the pre-established calibration system, the comparator was respectively calibrated by two calibration methods. Finally, by comparing En values of two calibration results, the effectiveness of the improved method was verified. The calibration results show that the angle comparator has a stable angle position error of 0:1700 and a measurement uncertainty of 0:0500 (k = 2). Through method comparisons, it was shown that the improved calibration method can greatly reduce calibration time and improve the calibration efficiency while ensuring the calibration accuracy, and with the decrease of measurement interval, the improvement of calibration efficiency was more obvious.

Abstract

In 1993–1997 the occurrence of Lepidoptera pests: Pieris rapae L., Pieris brassicae L., Mamestra brassicae L., and Plusia gamma L. were observed on the nine different late cabbage vegetables; Savoy cabbage cv. Vertus, white cabbage cv. Amager, red cabbage cv. Langendijker, brussel sprouts cv. Maczuga, cauliflower cv. Pionier, blue kohlrabi cv. Masłowa, white kohlrabi cv. Delikates, kale cv. Zielony Kędzierzawy and broccoli cv. Piast. The field observations showed that butterflies differentiated among host-species for oviposition. The butterfly females of all species preferred for oviposition the brussel sprouts and deposited a substantially larger number of eggs on leav es of them. Plant species with green leaves were more preferred than the red leaf ones.

Abstract

The paper aims to confirm the syngas application as a reburning fuel to reduce e.g. NO emission during natural gas combustion. The main aim of this modelling work was to predict pollutants generated in the exhaust gases and to indicate the influence of the syngas on the natural gas combustion process. The effect of residence time of fuel-air mixture was also been performed. Calculations were made with CHEMIKN-PRO for reburning process using syngas. The boundary conditions of the reburning process were based on experimental investigations. The addition of 5, 10, 15 and 19% of reburning fuel into natural gas combustion was studied. The effects of 0.001 to 10 s of residence time and the addition of 5, 10, and 15% of syngas on combustion products were determined. The performed numerical tests confirmed that co-combustion of the natural gas with syngas (obtained from sewage sludge gasification) in the reburning process is an efficient method of NOx reduction by c.a. 50%. Syngas produced from sewage sludge can be utilised as a reburning fuel.

Abstract

Notes on Foscolo and the English language (1816–1827) – Foscolo never managed to master his host country’s language during his years of exile in London (1816–1827). The vast production of his English years consists almost entirely of works intended to be translated by other people and thus to be considered as provisional drafts. In this paper, the relationship between Foscolo and the English language is analysed and discussed, focusing in particular on his interactions with his translators and on his linguistic vision.

Abstract

Based on a visual analysis of the heart of Frederic Chopin performed in 2014 and described above, it can be stated with high probability that the composer suffered from a long lasting tuberculosis as a primary disease, which was the cause of progressive deterioration of his physical condition and numerous symptoms mainly from the respiratory tract. Tuberculous pericarditis rapidly progressing within a rather short period of time, a relatively rare complication of diffuse tuberculosis, might have been an immediate cause of death. This would aptly coincide with a startling opinion that in an autopsy picture the composer’s heart had been more affected by the disease than the lungs.
