Abstract

Polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and dibenzofurans are present in the air either adsorbed on particulate matter or as vapor (minor part). They are most known carcinogens and mutagens. In this study dust samples from Lublin were being collected for 12 months and analyzed for the PCDD/Fs content. For the analysis of these samples classical extraction with Soxhlet apparatus, double step clean-up based on SEC and charge-transfer interactions chromatography, and finally analysis with GC-MS were applied. Results of the determinations were compared with results obtained by other authors.

Abstract

A new method of Electrocardiogram (ECG) features extraction is proposed in this paper. The purpose of this study is to detect the main characteristics of the signal: P, Q, R, S, and T, then localize and extract its intervals and segments. To do so we first detect peaks, onsets and offsets of the signal's waveform by calculating the slope change (SC) coefficients and consequently, the peaks of the signal are determined. The SC coefficients are based on the calculation of the integral of two-scale signals with opposite signs. The simulation results of our algorithm applied on recordings of MIT-BIH arrhythmia electrocardiogram database show that the proposed method delineates the electrocardiogram waveforms and segments with high precision.

Abstract

Common alder (Alnus glutinosa) decline has been observed in most of European countries since 1993. In Poland decline of alder trees has been observed during the last 6 years. Alder Phytophthora was recorded, however, only from one sampling area in the middle of the country. Species of Armillaria, Fusarium, Mucor, Penicillium and Trichoderma were also isolated from diseased trees. Inoculation of alder stem pans, leaves and seedlings with Phytophthora isolates resulted in the development and spread of necrosis. Studies will be continued in the nearest years.
