Abstract

Kiedy mówimy o grzybach, zazwyczaj przed oczami staje nam borowik albo muchomor. Tymczasem taksonomiczne królestwo grzybów jest znacznie większe i bardziej różnorodne – do dzisiaj opisano ponad 100 tysięcy gatunków, przy czym szacuje się, że w rzeczywistości może ich być nawet pięćdziesiąt razy więcej. Niektóre ukochały paliwo lotnicze.

Abstract

When we mention mushrooms, our minds generally turn to grilled champignons for breakfast or gnomes lurking under toadstools. But the taxonomical kingdom to which they belong, the fungi, is actually vast and highly diverse: over one hundred thousand species have been described so far, and scientists estimate that the real number could be as much as fifty times greater. Some fungi have even taken a liking to aviation fuel!

Abstract

Polish Sign Language (PJM) is a natural communication system that has been evolving for two centuries. It is at the heart of the identity and culture of the Deaf community in Poland, but it is often marginalized and neglected. It first came under serious linguistic scrutiny not long ago, and more systematic research on it has been initiated in recent years by a team of researchers at the Section for Sign Linguistics at the University of Warsaw.
