Abstract

The surface matching is useful to solve the problem of comparing two surfaces obtained from two data sets of the same terrain. The data sets of points could be get from different sources such as Aerial and Satellite imagery, SAR, IFSAR, UDAR etc. The solution of surface matching problem is based on the some characterized contours existed on the surfaces as line features, which have to be expressed by parametric representation in frequency domain. Line features could be determined in the 2-D image or object space. For finding corresponding pair of point belonging to corresponding interest lines on the both surfaces, the image and object line features-based matching method has been used. Abstract

Hydrological models are widely used for runoff simulation throughout the world. The objective of this study is to check the performance of the HEC-HMS model for continuous runoff simulation of Gilgel Gibe watershed. It includes sensitivity analysis, calibration, and validation. The model calibration was conducted with data from the year 1991 to 2002 and validated for the year 2003 to 2013 period using daily observed stream flow near the outlet of the watershed. To check the consistency of the model, both the calibration and validation periods were divided into two phases. The sensitivity analysis of parameters showed that curve number (CN) and wave travel time (K) were the most sensitive, whereas channel storage coefficient (x) and lag time (tlag) were moderately sensitive. The model performance measured using Nash–Sutcliff Efficiency (NSE), Percentage of Bias (PBIAS), correlation coefficient (R2), root mean square error (RMSE), and Percentage Error in Peak (PEP). The respective values were 0.795, 8.225%, 0.916, 27.105 m3 s–1 and 7.789% during calibration, and 0.795, 23.015%, 0.916, 29.548 m3 s–1 and –19.698% during validation. The result indicates that the HEC-HMS model well estimated the daily runoff and peak discharge of Gilgel Gibe watershed. Hence, the model is recommended for continuous runoff simulation of Gilgel Gibe watershed. The study will be helpful for efficient water resources and watershed management for Gilgel Gibe watershed. It can also be used as a reference or an input for any future hydrological investigations in the nearby un-gauged or poorly gauged watershed.

Abstract

Aramaic receipts and title-deeds on clay tablets are formally distinguished in the 7th century B.C., although they are closely related juridical documents. Only two receipts are known at present and both have a triangular shape like loan contracts. Instead, titledeeds, often called sale acts, have a rectangular shape and are narrowest along the lines of writing. They are sealed on the upper edge of the tablet or in the upper part of the obverse. So far, there is only one Aramaic title-deed concerning a field and a second one fixing the boundary between two properties. Instead, four or five deeds concern the acquisition of persons, not necessarily slaves. Considering the state of the clay tablets and their somewhat inadequate edition, a new transliteration and translation of the operative parts of the deeds are provided below, omitting the lists of witnesses. Short comments are proposed also for the fragment of a title-deed dated in the 34th year of Nebuchadnezzar II.

Abstract

This paper presents the study of the impact of vibration induced by the movement of the railway rolling stock on the Forum Gdańsk structure. This object is currently under construction and is located over the railway tracks in the vicinity of the Gdańsk Główny and Gdańsk Śródmieście railway stations. The analysis covers the influence of vibrations on the structure itself and on the people within. The in situ measurements on existing parts of the structure allow us to determine environmental excitations used for validation and verification of the derived FEM model. The numerical calculations made the estimates of the vibration amplitudes propagating throughout the whole structure possible.

Abstract

This article looks at the history and contents of the quarterly Dawna Sztuka [Old Art] published in Lwów in (1938–1939), dedicated to the history of art and archaeology. Founded by Professor Stanisław Jan Gąsiorowski, the periodical was intended, among others, as a platform for establishing ties with researchers from abroad and presenting the work of Polish archaeologists and art historians to the academic community and readers all over the world.
