Abstract

In the paper, the authors present the shakedown analysis of the plate structures pre-loaded beyond the elastoplastic range. Two cases of loading are considered, namely: the structure is subjected to the action of two independent sets ofloads with constant points of application or one parameter set of loads moves slowly according to an a priori described program. As a result, the safe loading boundary or the shakedown load parameter are calculated, respectively, by means of the finite element method (FEM). Three examples confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms of analysis.

Abstract

Distribution and population age structure of krill Euphausia superba larvae is presented for four consequent years on the basis of the summer materials from 1976 to 1979. An approximate rate of growth of krill larvae was calculated on the basis of the above observations and the literature data on the occurrence of particular larval stages. This allowed to determine the main period of krill breeding in particular years. Intense breeding of krill took place from January to middle of March in summers 1976/1977 and 1977/1978, but much earlier — mid November to mid January in 1975/1976. In summer of 1978/1979 the breeding of krill was poor till March.

Abstract

The article provides analysis of current regulation on arrest of vessel and closely related issues of executionof judgments against vessel. The Author discusses Polish Code of Civil Procedure 1964, International Convention Relating to Arrest of Sea-Going Ships (the Brussels Convention 1952), to which Poland is party, and International Convention on the Arrest ofShips (the Geneva Convention 1999), not yet in force.

The Author criticizes Polish judicial authorities’ conduct regarding arrest of vessel and calls for incorporation of its regulation into the Polish maritime Code. His 9-point proposal is far-reaching and may prove valuable for future legislation.

Abstract

In this paper I interpret Ernst Friedrich’s album War against War, which was published in 1924 and presents photographs of First World War damages. I recall Jacques Rancière’s “distribution of the sensible”, Judith Butler’s “framing” and José Medina’s “hermeneutical death” theories. The aim of the paper is to propose an interpretation of Friedrich’s project in reference to contemporary theories of social philosophy. The interpretation makes it possible to show a political dimension to War against War and its contemporary meaning. In my interpretation, War against War is presented on the one hand as a tool to show the logic of nationalistic discourse, on the other as a way of doing justice to war veterans. In the conclusion I pose an open question about the contemporary reader’s responsibility towards the victims shown in the photographs.

Abstract

Methodology of Fundamental Theology. Demonstratio Christiana

Summary

The article addresses the issue of demonstratio christiana in fundamental theology in three parts. First, traditional grounds for revelation fulfilled in Jesus Christ are demonstrated (1), followed by the contemporary presentation of the Christological treatise (2). Finally, a possibility of presentation of Christological and ecclesiological facts in harmonized categories is suggested (3).
