Abstract

The article describes early medieval (10th–11th c.) coins from the collection of the Ossolinski National Institute. There are about 400 coins from this period, originate from Poland and other countries. Part of them come from hoards or archaeological excavations carried out on settlements or grave fields, other coins come from the old collections of Ossolineum in Lviv, and some from donations or various purchases. In the Ossolineum there are fragments of six early medieval hoards, containing coins, silver ornaments and fragments of silver clumps.

Abstract

W artykule przedstawiono znaleziska monet pochodzące z kompleksu osadniczego zlokalizowanego w miejscowości Ryczyn, gm. Oława, pow. oławski. Z grodu pochodzi 21 monet datowanych od pierwszej połowy XI do końca XII w., wśród nich dziewięć denarów krzyżowych, dwa denary Bolesława II Śmiałego, jeden Władysława II Wygnańca, sześć monet Bolesława IV Kędzierzawego oraz trzy nieokreślone fragmenty. Na terenie cmentarzyska odnaleziono 38 monet, m.in. denar krzyżowy z 2. połowy XI w., siedem brakteatów datowanych na XIV i XV w., a także 24 halerze śląskie pochodzące z okresu od XIV do początków XVI w.

Abstract

In 2011 twelve early medieval coins found their way to the collection of the Coins, Medals and Seals Department of the Ossolineum, including nine cross pennies of the types VII (Crosier) and VIII (Hand-head), a penny of Boleslaus the Bold of the 'royal' type, and two specimens with the names of Boleslaus and St John, extremely rare and interesting, attributed to the Wrocław mint. Part of these: the two pennies with St John's name and cross pennies of type VII, may derive from a scattered hoard from the village of Kopacz, Złotoryja County, Dolnośląskie Voivodeship.

Abstract

During archaeological excavation conducted in the area of a multicultural settlement in Sianów, Koszalin district, the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in 2016 12 small, modern-time coins were discovered, dated from the 18th to 20th century.

Abstract

Archaeological rescue excavations in Byczyna at site 1 (medieval town graveyard) were conducted between 1 July 2009 and 1 August 2010. During the excavations 670 11th to 18th century graves were discovered. There were at least 62 coins dated from the 14th to the 19th centuries found in the graveyard area. They were grave gifts, accidental finds, and losses.
