Over the past 15 years Poland has seen changes in how people form and raise a family, meaning the process of marriage and procreation. Increasingly fewer children are being born, and women are deciding to marry and to have their first child at an increasingly later age.

In Poland, like in many European countries, the age structure of the population is changing: the number of individuals above 60 years old is rising while the number of children and youth is dropping. Our reaction to this process should aim not just to reform the system of social insurance and the labor market, but also to change people's behavior on the individual level.

W Polsce, podobnie jak w innych krajach europejskich, zmienia się struktura wieku ludności: rośnie liczba osób powyżej 60. roku życia, a zarazem zmniejsza się liczba dzieci i młodzieży. Reakcją na ten proces powinny być nie tylko reformy systemów zabezpieczenia społecznego i rynku pracy, ale również zmiana indywidualnych zachowań ludzi.

Zasadniczą cechą dokonujących się w Polsce w ostatnich 15 latach zmian demograficznych są przemiany procesu formowania i rozwoju rodziny, czyli procesu zawierania małżeństw i płodności. Coraz mniej rodzi się w Polsce dzieci, co jest wynikiem zmniejszającej się dzietności, a decyzje o małżeństwie i urodzeniu pierwszego dziecka podejmowane są w coraz późniejszym wieku.
