Abstract

The work involved assessment of the Myzus persicae (Sulz.) capability to infect successively potato plants with PVY and PVM after a Sunspray 850 EC mineral oil application. The tests were carried out in the greenhouse, with 4-week-old, healthy potato plants possessing low ressistance to viruses, derived from in vitro (test plants). Any time, for each combination and each virus, 10 successive plants were inoculated in 6 repetitions. Virus sources were potato plants infected with PVY or PVM, kept in isolated rooms. As a result of oil application, feeding of the M. persicae specimens on plants previously treated with this oil was delayed. The highest reduction as regards PVY and PVM transmission by M. persicae was obtained in the treatment where both plants constituting virus sources and test plants were protected, because only two of ten plants were infected with PVY, and only one with PVM. Mineral oil application only on potato test plants (healthy ones) reduced to a small degree M. persicae capability to transmit PVY to six successive plants (to seven in control), whereas it was much higher for PVM – to three (to six in control). In the case when only plants constituting virus sources were oil-protected, aphid’s capability to transmit PVY was limited only to four plants, and PVM – to two. These results seem to confirm much more the hypothesis that mineral oil inactivates virus particles in the stylets of aphids while they attempt to acquire it from plants which have been previously protected with mineral oil.

Abstract

In paper is presented technology of bimetallic layered castings based on founding method of layer coating directly in cast proces so-called method of mould cavity preparation. Prepared castings consist two fundamental parts i.e. bearing part and working part (layer). The bearing part of bimetallic layered casting is typical foundry material i.e. ferritic-pearlitic unalloyed cast steel, whereas working part (layer) is plate of austenitic alloy steel sort X2CrNi 18-9. The ratio of thickness between bearing and working part is 8:1. The aim of paper was assessed the quality of the joint between bearing and working part in dependence of pouring temperature and carbon concentration in cast steel. The quality of the joint in bimetallic layered castings was evaluated on the basis of ultrasonic non-destructive testing, structure and microhardness researches.

Abstract

The author presents main tendencies in the Polish republicanism of the 18th century from the perspective of its philosophy of history and philosophy of politics presented by Dunin-Karwicki. The author tries to make a critical comparison of two contradictory interpretations of the reality understood as the creation of God or the people and the infl uences of these two interpretations on social changes and differences in the perception of the reality.

Abstract

The paper contains a philosophical deconstruction of a notion of the "catastrophe" as historical phenomenon. The Author points out some characteristics of the catastrophic concept of the reality as they were expressed in the literary discourse in Poland in the period ofjin de siecle and in the poetry and prose of the WWII. The philosophical preconditions of catastrophic thinking are related to the literary expression present in narration of famous Polish poets and writers: Kazimierz Przerwa Tetmajer, Jan Kasprowicz, KrzysztofKamil Baczyński, Tadeusz Borowski and Gustaw Herling-Grudziński.

Abstract

The model considered in the paper is defined as VAR with the prior distribution for parameters generated by the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model. The degree of economic restrictions in the DSGE-VAR model is controlled by the weighting parameter. In the paper there is investigated the impact of the weighting parameter prior specifications for the posterior shape of impulse response functions (IRFs). In case of conditional models the paths of IRFs highly depend on the value of the weighting parameter that is set arbitrary. When considering full estimation with different prior types, means and gradual change in the dispersion the posterior time paths of IRFs are similar in models with high values of the marginal data density.

Abstract

In the paper the use of the artificial neural network to the control of the work of heat treating equipment for the long axisymmetric steel

elements with variable diameters is presented. It is assumed that the velocity of the heat source is modified in the process and is in real

time updated according to the current diameter. The measurement of the diameter is performed at a constant distance from the heat source

(∆z = 0). The main task of the model is control the assumed values of temperature at constant parameters of the heat source such as radius

and power. Therefore the parameter of the process controlled by the artificial neural network is the velocity of the heat source. The input

data of the network are the values of temperature and the radius of the heated element. The learning, testing and validation sets were

determined by using the equation of steady heat transfer process with a convective term. To verify the possibilities of the presented

algorithm, based on the solve of the unsteady heat conduction with finite element method, a numerical simulation is performed. The

calculations confirm the effectiveness of use of the presented solution, in order to obtain for example the constant depth of the heat

affected zone for the geometrically variable hardened axisymmetric objects.

Abstract

The paper presents the technology of manufacturing layered castings, consisting of grey cast iron (base part) and high-chromium stainless steel (working part/layer). The aim of researches was an attempt of integration of heat treatment of steel X46Cr13 grade with founding of grey cast iron in bimetallic system and determination of the influence of cooling rate of bimetallic system in classical sand mould with bentonite on microstructure and hardness of the working layer. The castings were manufactured using mould cavity preparation method, where steel plate was poured by grey cast iron using different pouring temperature and thickness of base part. Then, the quality of joint between cast iron and steel plate was estimated by using ultrasonic non-destructive testing. The efficiency of heat treatment process was analysed by measurement of hardness and in metallographic examination. Conducted studies showed, that self-hardening’s ability of steel X46Cr13 let obtain technologically usable layered casting characterized by hardness of working surface up to 35 HRC.

Abstract

The volume changes caused by coupled temperature and moisture variations in early-age concrete elements lead to formation of stresses. If a restraint exists along the contact surface of mature concrete against which a new concrete element has been cast, generated stresses are mostly of a restraint origin. In engineering practice a wide range of externally restrained concrete elements can be distinguished such as tank walls or bridge abutments cast against an old set foundation, in which early-age cracking may endanger their durability or functionality. Therefore, for years methods were being developed to predict early-age stresses and cracking risk of externally restrained concrete elements subjected to early-age thermal-moisture effects. The paper presents the comparative study of the most recognised analytical approaches: the method proposed in EC2, the method proposed by ACI Committee 207 and the method developed at the Luleå University of Technology.

Abstract

In the present article the author describes the issue of relation between Synagogue and Church in the context of Johannine writings. The author makes analysis of the Johannine texts in order to show the traces of polemic between Judaism and Christianity. He shows the hostility between Synagogue and Church in the light of terms like aposunagōgos, “Jews” and other polemical expressions which occur in the Gospel of John, in the Letters of John and the Book of Revelation. The author tries to answer the question of how Sitz im Leben of the Johannine writings influences their content. The analysis of Jewish and Christian sources shows the tension and hostility between Rabbinic Judaism and Johannine Community after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple. It leads to gradual separation between Synagogue and Church. In this article there are shown the reasons for the parting of the ways between Judaism and Christianity and its meaning for the contemporary dialogue between Synagogue and Church.
