This article presents a collective portrait of the 231 deputies of the 1919 Constituent Assembly who match the broad label 'journalist politicians'. The basic source for this analysis are the minutes of the proceedings, Stenographic Reports of the Legislative Sejm (1919–1922), as well as various printed materials produced by the assembly, including questions and interpellations, urgent motions, rules of procedure, lists and inventories, etc.

The biographies of the journalists of Polish press published in West Prussia in the 19th and early 20th century usually highlight their patriotic commitment and admirable perseverance in launching and running various newspapers and journals. However, we can also find in their lives episodes that did them little credit, or even were downright disgraceful.

This article deals with Echo z Polski [ The Echo from Poland] (the title was subsequently altered to Echo Polskie), the first Polish-language newspaper in the United States, published in 1893–1865 in New York. While at first its pages were predominantly filled with news from Poland, it gradually broadened its coverage in an effort to become the leading paper of the Polish- American community.
