Abstract

In this paper, we proposed a novel design of U-slotted SIW antenna. Our antenna design is aimed to cover upper K-band and lower Ka-band spectrums, specifically from 24 GHz to 32 GHz. It has a compact square size of 5.2 x 5.2 mm2. We use a rectangular truncated corner to optimize the square radiator. The optimized rectangular truncated corner size of 2 x 0.8 mm2 gives an impedance bandwidth of 7.87 GHz. SIW cavity is constructed by using multiple metallic via-holes which are drilled in a dielectric substrate establishing. Next optimization, applying the U-shaped slot and SIW structure yield a wider impedance bandwidth of 8.89 GHz, there is about 1.02 GHz of impedance bandwidth enhancement. In addition, the SIW structure gives a higher gain of 7.63 dB and decreases the sidelobe level of -12.1 dB. Implementation of the SIW structure significantly decreases the size of antenna while keeping the antenna parameter’s performances.

Abstract

This paper presents maximum score type estimators for linear, binomial, tobit and truncated regression models. These estimators estimate the normalized vector of slopes and do not provide the estimator of intercept, although it may appear in the model. Strong consistency is proved. In addition, in the case of truncated and tobit regression models, maximum score estimators allow restriction of the sample in order to make ordinary least squares method consistent.

Abstract

Pot-cored coils are commonly used as probes in eddy current testing. In this paper, an analytical model of such a coil placed over a three-layer plate with a hole has been presented. The proposed solution enables the modelling of both magnetic and non-magnetic conductive plates that contain different types of hole, i.e. a through, a surface, an inner or a subsurface hole. The problem was solved by using the truncated region eigenfunction expansion (TREE) method. The analysis was carried out in a cylindrical coordinate system in which the solution domain was radially limited. With the employment of the filamentary coil, the expressions for the magnetic vector potential, and subsequently for the impedance of the cylindrical coil were obtained. The final formulas were presented in a closed form and then implemented in Matlab. The resistance and reactance values were compared with the results obtained in the experiment and using the finite element method in the Comsol Multiphysics package. In each of the cases, good agreement was obtained.

Abstract

In this article, the thick truncated cone shell is divided into disk-layers form with their thickness corresponding to the thickness of the cone. Due to the existence of shear stress in the truncated cone, the equations governing disk layers are obtained based on first shear deformation theory. These equations are in the form of a set of general differential equations. Given that the truncated cone is divided into n disks, n sets of differential equations are obtained. The solution of this set of equations, applying the boundary conditions and continuity conditions between the layers, yields displacements and stresses. The results obtained have been compared with those obtained through the analytical solution and the numerical solution. For the purpose of the analytical solution, use has been made of matched asymptotic method (MAM) and for the numerical solution, the finite element method (FEM).
