Literary periodicals promoting young writers played a major role in the formation of a distinct generational consciousness during the occupation and in the post-war period. They included Sztuka i Naród [Art and the Nation] (1942–1944), Walka [Combat] and Inaczej [Contrarily] (1945), Pokolenie [ The Generation] (1946–1947), Nurt [The Current] (1947), Po prostu [ Plain and Simple] (1949–1955), Wyboje [ Bumps] (1956–1957), Zebra (1957–1958), Orientacja (1965–1971) and Nowy Wyraz [New Expression] (1972–1981). The young writers’ literary magazines were the product of the shifting political environment and generational change.

The article presents the roots of contemporary Jewish-Polish relations in Poland. The Author analyses various phenomena and processes, leading to initiation of the Polish-Jewish dialogue in the years 1979- -1997, as well as evaluates the mutual relations between the two social groups in the turn of 1980s to 1990s.

This essay asks the question of the topicality of Franz Kafka's work on the centenary of the writer's death. In a contemporary era, which – like the entire passing century – is beset by violent conflicts, crises; afflicted by epidemics, ecological and climatic threats; by a widespread sense of „confusion” and the anxiety that results from it. Kafka's work not only bears witness to all these threats and fears, but also asks about the possibility of hope.

While in the United States Polish newspapers and magazines began to spring up in the late 19th century, in Russia the Polish diaspora did not produce their own press until the early 20th century. This article surveys the contents of three periodicals and other publications produced by Polonia associations in Krasnodar, Zheleznovodsk and Stavropol in Southern Russia.

Od świtu ludzkości, czasów organizowania się i gromadzenia wspólnot osadniczych, poprzez czasy formowania się pierwszych miast, towarzyszyła człowiekowi wiara w różnorodne bóstwa1. Wraz z rozwojem kulturowym i społecznym także systemy wierzeń ulegały ujednolicaniu, kodyfikacji i przyciągały coraz większą liczbę wiernych, stając się czynnikiem społeczno-politycznym wpływającym istotnie na kształt i kierunki rozwoju młodych cywilizacji. Wraz ze wzrostem znaczenia nowych idei, organizacji przez nie przestrzeni sacrum i formalizacji zachowań, zaczęto kult "przekuwać w kamień"2. Analizując architekturę sakralną każdej epoki i studiując jej historię, można zaobserwować jak zmieniała się sinusoida stosunków społecznych pomiędzy tolerancją i religijnym współistnieniem z jednej strony, a nienawiścią i dążeniem do dominacji z drugiej. We współczesnym, bardzo zróżnicowanym, pełnym mnogości wyznań i różnic kulturowych świecie, architekci stają przed wyzwaniem w jaki sposób kształtować architekturę sakralną aby służyła pokojowej koegzystencji, akceptowaniu różnic, nie będąc jednocześnie zarzewiem konfliktów, wzajemnych roszczeń i pretensji.
