Abstract

Modern medicine is developing newer and newer methods of treatment, supplementing traditional medications with the latest scientific achievements. For example, sometimes special cells derived from the patient or a donor, or even created in a laboratory, can used as "medicines" in their own right.

Abstract

The historian should try to understand the past and interpret it in such a way that people will want to read about it. I would not propose any other mission. And certainly the historian should never have a political axe to grind - says Dr. Marcin Zaremba.

Abstract

In recent years, one in every eight Poles has been involved in a road traffic accident. In the aftermath, many are affected by symptoms described by psychologists and psychiatrists as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Psychologists study the mental wellbeing of people who have been involved in such accidents, and also provide therapies helping them resume their normal activities.

Hot dry rocks have been used in experimental and non-commercial installations for decades. These resources, locked deep within Earth's crust, have a greater potential than the currently popular hydrogeothermal systems. Preliminary results of studies into hot rocks in Poland are promising: generating thermal and electrical energy at relatively low costs should become a reality in the coming years.

If you find rambling an enjoyable and thrilling pastime, why not try "geotourism" - experiencing the beauty of inanimate nature the smart way?

Abstract

In the movie "Gravity;' fragments of an old, disused satellite crash into a space station. The collision results in the formation of a high volume of debris, which in turn damages more satellites, causing the breakdown of GPS and the Internet, putting our planet on the brink of chaos. Although this is merely a science fiction blockbuster, the situation it depicts could easily occur in Earth's orbit. How can we prevent it from happening?
