 abstract={This paper investigates two translations into modern Russian, published during the Soviet era, of a masterpiece of East Slavic literature, The Tale of Igor’s Campaign: Nikolaj Zabolockij’s poetry translation (begun in 1938 and completed in 1950) and Viktor Sosnora’s original retelling of the medieval poem, written in 1959. I will explore the different poets’ approach to the Old Russian text and point out the key role of these translations for the poetic production of both authors.},
