Creating additional paths between the transmitter and receiver to improve the received signal accessible to the system is one of the significant uses of RIS. A virtual line of sight (VLOS) is established through the Tx-RIS-Rx link without the line of sight (LOS). RIS technology solves the problem of low coverage in millimeter-wave communications. This paper presents the effect of the signal-to-noise ratio by changing dimensions. In addition to finding the optimal values for the dimensions that give the optimal SNR, simulation results prove that the RIS height is greater than or equal to half the dimension between the sender and the receiver. It is recommended that the RIS height be greater than half the distance between the sender and the receiver.}, title={Optimizing the Signal-to-Noise Ratio using the Virtual Line of Sight and choosing the appropriate dimension}, type={Article}, URL={http://journals.pan.pl/Content/133217/PDF-MASTER/17-4701-Qeryaqos-sk.pdf}, doi={10.24425/ijet.2024.152077}, keywords={reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, millimeter-wave environment, signal-to-noise ratio, RIS height, VLOS}, }
