Folia Orientalia (FOr) is an international multi- and interdisciplinary journal published annually by the Commission of Oriental Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Kraków Branch) which aims to publish high quality writing relevant to the Near and Middle East, South Asia, Central Asia and Africa. The journal was founded in 1959 and it spans all periods, from ancient times to the present, of the cultures and civilisations of the areas studied. Major disciplines include linguistics and comparative linguistics (including Semitic, Afroasiatic, African, Iranian, Turkish, Indian etc.), literary studies, history, religion and cultural studies, art and archaeology.The journal is aimed at both established and new researchers, who are encouraged to present innovative research, including that based on fieldwork. In principle, there are no restrictions on the length of articles. All contributions are accessible via Open Access.
Folia Orientalia publishes original research articles, review articles and book reviews in English, French or German.
