Abstract

This paper presents integration of ultrasonic and inertial approaches in indoor navigation system. Ultrasonic navigation systems allow to obtain good results whilst there are at least three beacon transmitters in the range of mobile receiver, but in many situations placement of large number of transmitters is not economically justified. In such situations navigation must be aided by other technique. This paper describes research on supporting ultrasonic system by inertial system based on Magnetic, Angular Rate and Gravity sensor. This can measure current orientation of the receiver and allows to estimate the length of the path by pedometer functionality.

Abstract

The article presents a family of the so called multinomial transition curves. It is possible to conveniently form the curvatures of those curves through appropriate choice of minimum radius of curve R, tangent gradient at starting point tgu0, and the abscissa of ending point xK, which affects the value of elementary design parameter C=Rtgu0/xK. The possibility to select C values from interval < 1/3; 2/3 > and the unusual position of the curves within the Cartesian coordinate system make them remarkably useful for example at designing road grade lines in order to accomplish optimum compatibility with the relief. The foregoing being borne in mind, the article presents appropriate methods of designing road grade line with the use of the said curves.

Abstract

In the material of nearly 2000 individuals of Asteroidea collected in Admiralty Bay, the largest bay of the South Shetlands, 36 species were determined, enriching the list of hitherto known asteroid species of this basin by 17 taxa. One of them, Peribolaster macleani, is recorded for the first time in Western Antarctic. The most frequent and abundant asteroids of Admiralty Bay were Odonlaster validus, Psilaster charcoti, Bathybiaster loripes obesus and Diplasterias brucei. The bathymetric and geographic distribution of all species are discussed.

Abstract

Lately, there has been increased interest in hybrid excitation electrical machines. Hybrid excitation is a construction that combines permanent magnet excitation with wound field excitation. Within the general classification, these machines can be classified as modified synchronous machines or inductor machines. These machines may be applied as motors and generators. The complexity of electromagnetic phenomena which occur as a result of coupling of magnetic fluxes of separate excitation systems with perpendicular magnetic axis is a motivation to formulate various mathematical models of these machines. The presented paper discusses the construction of a unipolar hybrid excitation synchronous machine. The magnetic equivalent circuit model including nonlinear magnetization curves is presented. Based on this model, it is possible to determine the multi-parameter relationships between the induced voltage and magnetomotive force in the excitation winding. Particular attention has been paid to the analysis of the impact of additional stator and rotor yokes on above relationship. Induced voltage determines the remaining operating parameters of the machine, both in the motor and generator mode of operation. The analysis of chosen correlations results in an identification of the effective control range of electromotive force of the machine.

Abstract

25 years after the political transformation in Poland the time has come to assess the reforms and attitudes of entrepreneurs . The role of business leaders turns out to be particularly important in the creation of common good, inclusive of workplaces created by them and an active fight against poverty. On the basis of the most recent social documents of the Catholic Church, the author of the article considers an influence of the globalization and financialisation on the conditions in which Polish entrepreneurs function. For Christian business leaders particularly important are those fundamental and practical principles of business which emerge from the human dignity, common good as well as from such principles as justice and subsidiarity. In the current context knowledge should be combined with spirituality so that those principles can be put into practice. The spirituality of St . Ignatius has always been open to this. The author then points to the activity of those young Christian business leaders in Poland who search for an inspiration in the books of Chris Lowney.
