The prolific life of this eminent scholar has confidently aroused interest in his person and aimed at multiplying efforts to benefit from his wisdom and rich experience. Likewise, I also bury in my memory this kind of inner feelings, of which I have accumulated no small number while building a world of historical interest. The name of Professor Józef A. Gierowski had already sunk into my memory several decades ago. I reached for his publications when I had not yet crystallised a clear direction of interest. Nevertheless, I persistently reached for his texts to “taste” the problems of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Professor Lech Kłosiewicz left us on the 11th of March, 2016. The professor was known not only in the community of architects and urbanists, but also in the wider world of men of science and culture. The opinions that he formulated were always marked with a deepened scientific reflection, based on a wide ranging analysis of the matters that He investigated. As a scholar and analyst of Modern Architecture, he continually discovered in it qualities which arose from the comparison of particular works, which allowed them to be viewed as the components of the larger urban scale.

This short note presents the life and scholarly accomplishments of Professor Stanisław Gajda (1945–2022), a renowned linguist, stylistician, the founder of a school of stylistic thought, as well as the scholarly journal “Stylistyka”, and an influential figure behind the National Corpus of the Polish Language.

The study of the relationship “the natural qualities of water – the naturally built environment – the psycho- emotional conditions of human beings” from the perspective of architectural and landscape organization is essential nowadays. By investigating modern monuments we identified the methods of landscaping and composition planning to create the appropriate environment to emotionally impact the persons dealing with grief, sadness and loss. The conducted analysis of modern memorials allowed us to explore the role of water as an important compositional element in the architectural and landscape organization of monument sites. We also identified different methods of modeling water and how they affect related emotional impressions in creating the urban social environment that would preserve the historical and cultural memory from generation to generation.

Autorka artykułu analizuje wpływ twórczości Marcela Prousta na utwory dramatyczne Tennessee Williamsa, zwłaszcza na dramat Szklana menażeria, znany także z hollywoodzkiej wersji filmowej. W sztuce tej ważną rolę odgrywają Proustowskie motywy, takie jak czas, pamięć i jej mechanizmy. Podobnie jak Proust, Williams nie ukrywa w swoim utworze elementów autobiograficznych. W Szklanej menażerii zwraca również uwagę inspirowane powieścią Prousta wykorzystanie motywów muzycznych oraz doszukiwanie się podobieństw między bohaterami literackimi a postaciami z dzieł malarskich. Choć Proust nie pisał dramatów, a Williams nie zostawił po sobie żadnej powieści, to łączyła ich miłość do teatru i przekonanie, że wspomnienie jest swego rodzaju spektaklem, a scena to szczególnie odpowiednie miejsce, by opowiadać o przeszłości.

Klub Sportowy „Gedania” powstał w 1922 roku. Celem działania Klubu było rozwijanie sprawności fizycznej jego członków, a także umacnianie polskości w Wolnym Mieście Gdańsku. W artykule przedstawiono zbiory PAN Biblioteki Gdańskiej świad-czące o historii „Gedanii” w latach 1922–1951. Niewyczerpanym źródłem informacji o działalności Klubu jest polska i niemiecka prasa wydawana przed wojną w Gdańsku. Bogate zbiory fotograficzne dokumentują aktywność zawodników w poszczególnych sekcjach sportowych „Gedanii”. Biblioteka posiada ponadto życiorysy i wspomnienia spisane przez członków Klubu oraz zróżnicowane materiały archiwalne: Statut Klubu Sportowego „Gedania”e.V. w Gdańsku, świadectwa wydarzeń sportowych i towarzyskich, rozmaite pamiątki klubowe oraz pokaźny zbiór afiszy i ulotek z lat 1946–1951. Zacho-wane archiwalia przedwojenne są tzw. białymi krukami.
