Abstract

With the increasing number of electric vehicles (EVs), the disordered charging of a large number of EVs will have a large influence on the power grid. The problems of charging and discharging optimization management for EVs are studied in this paper. The distribution of characteristic quantities of charging behaviour such as the starting time and charging duration are analysed. The results show that charging distribution is in line with a logarithmic normal distribution. An EV charging behaviour model is established, and error calibration is carried out. The result shows that the error is within its permitted scope. The daily EV charge load is obtained by using the Latin hypercube Monte Carlo statistical method. Genetic particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed to optimize the proportion of AC 1, AC 2 and DC charging equipment, and the optimal solution can not only meet the needs of users but also reduce equipment investment and the EV peak valley difference, so the effectiveness of the method is verified.

Abstract

Conventional fuels are the primary source of pollution. Switching towards clean energy becomes increasingly necessary for sustainable development. Electric vehicles are the most suitable alternative for the future of the automobile industry. The battery, being the power source, is the critical element of electric vehicles. However, its charging and discharging rates have always been a question. The discharge rate depends upon various factors such as vehicle load, temperature gradient, surface inclination, terrain, tyre pressure, and vehicle speed. In this work, a 20 Ah, 13S-8P configured lithium-ion battery, developed specifically for a supermileage custom vehicle, is used for experimentation. The abovementioned factors have been analyzed to check the vehicle’s overall performance in different operating conditions, and their effects have been investigated against the battery’s discharge rate. It has been observed that the discharge rate remains unaffected by the considered temperature difference. However, overheating the battery results in thermal runaway, damaging and reducing its life. Increasing the number of brakes to 15, the impact on the discharge rate is marginal; however, if the number of brakes increases beyond 21, a doubling trend in voltage drops was observed. Thus, a smoother drive at a slow-varying velocity is preferred. Experiments for different load conditions and varying terrains show a rise in discharge with increasing load, low discharge for concrete, and the largest discharge for rocky terrain.

Abstract

The purpose of the present article is to provide an analysis of the iconographic sources used in the depiction of Adam and Eve in the 3rd–4th century wall paintings. The scene of the Original Sin initially appeared in wall painting, with the oldest examples dating back to the 3rd century AD. In the following century, images of Adam and Eve were used in both sarcophagus sculpture and crafts. The author of the article compares two different iconographic sources, which together shape the final appearance of Original Sin in the art of the period. A crucial literary source beside the text of Genesis is the apocryphal Lives of Adam and Eve, tracing a different sequence of events related to the story of the Original Sin. On the other hand, the analysis of ancient depictions of Hercules and the goddess Venus reveals an intriguing connection between the representations of the Original Sin and pagan iconography.

Abstract

The integration of the internet of things (IoT) and cyber physical network into the battery charging station system is critical to the success and long-term viability of the vehicle to grid (V2G) trend for future automobiles in terms of environmental and energy sustainability. The goal of this article is to create a V2G battery charging station concept using the internet of things (IoT) and a cyber physical network system. The V2G charging station concept was developed with the idea that every charging electric vehicle (EV) can communicate and coordinate with the charging station's control center, which includes a cyber physical system that addresses privacy and security concerns. The communication protocol must also be considered by the charging station. The preliminary test has been taken into consideration. Normal hours (for case one), peak hours (for case two), and valley hours (for case three), respectively, were created as charging circumstances for EVs at charging stations. Simulations were run for each of the three case scenarios. Each EV's battery state of charge (SoC) is provided a 50 percent initial charge and user-defined SoC restrictions. The MATLAB/SIMULINK platform was used to run the case simulations. The grid frequency, charging station output power, and the EV's battery SoC were all observed during the 24- hour simulation. As a result, the developed V2G charging station concept can regulate its input and output power depending on the battery status of the EVs inside the charging station, as well as provide frequency regulation service to the grid while meeting the energy demand of EV customers.

Abstract

This paper discusses three variants of how e-mobility development will affect the Polish Power System. Multivariate forecasts of annual new registrations of electric vehicles for up to seven years are developed. The forecasts use the direct trend extrapolation methods, methods based on the deterministic chaos theory, multiple regression models, and the Grey model. The number of electric vehicles in use was determined for 2019‒2025 based on the forecast new registrations. The forecasts were conducted in three variants for the annual electric energy demand in 2019‒2025, using the forecast number of electric vehicles and the forecast annual demand for electric energy excluding e-mobility. Forecasts were conducted in three variants for the daily load profile of power system for winter and summer seasons in the Polish Power system in 2019‒2025 based on three variants of the forecast number of electric vehicles and forecast relative daily load profiles.

Abstract

From the perspective of a virtual power plant (VPP) with electric vehicles (EVs), a self-scheduling strategy considering the response time margin (RTM) and state of charge margin (SOCM) is proposed. Firstly, considering the response state of the state of charge (SOC) and charge-discharge state of EVs, a VPP based response capacity determination model of EVs is established. Then, RTM and SOCM indexes are introduced on the basis of the power system scheduling target and the EV users’ traveling demands. The RTM and SOCM indices are calculated and then are used to generate a priority sequence of responsive EVs for the VPP. In the process of the scheduling period and rolling iteration, the scheduling schemes of the EVs in the VPP for multiple time periods are determined. Finally, the VPP self-scheduling strategy is validated by taking an VPP containing three kinds of EV users as an example. Simulation results show that with the proposed strategy, the VPP is able to respond to the scheduling power from the power system, while ensuring the traveling demands of the EV users at the same time.

Abstract

The development of electric vehicles (EV) necessitates the search for new solutions for configuring powertrain systems to increase reliability and efficiency. The modularity of power supplies, converters, and electrical machines is one such solution. Among modular electric machines, dual three-phase (DTP) motors are the most common in high-power drives. To simplify low and medium power drives for EVs based on DTP PM motor, it is proposed to use a BLDC drive and machine of the simplest design – with concentrated windings and surface mounted PMs on the rotor. To study and create such drives, an improved mathematical model of DTP PM machine was developed in this work. It is based on the results of 2D FEM modeling of the magnetic field. According to the developed method, the dependences of the self and mutual inductances between all phase windings from the angle of rotor position and loads of different motor modulus were determined. Based on these inductances, the circuit computer model of DTP PM machine was created in the Matlab/Simulink. It has a high simulation speed and a high level of adequacy, which is confirmed by experimental studies with a mock-up sample of the electric drive system.

Abstract

Inaccurate estimation in highway projects represents a major problem facing planners and estimators, especially when data and information about the projects are not available, and therefore the need to use modern technologies that addresses the problem of inaccuracy of estimation arises. The current methods and techniques used to estimate earned value indexes in Iraq are weak and inefficient. In addition, there is a need to adopt new and advanced technologies to estimate earned value indexes that are fast, accurate and flexible to use. The main objective of this research is to use an advanced method known as artificial neural networks to estimate the TSPI of highway buildings. The application of artificial neural networks as a new digital technology in the construction industrial in Republic of Iraq is absolutely necessary to ensure successful project management. One model built to predict the TCSPI of highway projects. In this current study, artificial neural network model were used to model the process of estimating earned value indexes, and several cases related to the construction of artificial neural networks have been studied, including network architecture and internal factors and the extent of their impact on the performance of artificial neural network models. Easy equation was developed to calculate that TSPI. It was found that these networks have the ability to predict the TSPI of highway projects with a very outstanding saucepan of reliability (97.00%), and the accounting coefficients (R) (95.43%).

Abstract

This article attempts to formulate a new interpretation of the mysterious messianic character marked "Forty and Four" from the Vision of Priest Piotr in Adam Mickiewicz's poetic drama Dziady ( Forefathers' Eve), Part III. After a review of earlier readings of this crux and its symbolism, the author of the article presents his own proposal, which contextualizes the enigmatic number in three historical frameworks. The first of them is ancient history, and, more specifically, 'Forty four' is seen as a reference to the Ides of March in 44 B.C., the date on which Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of conspirators led by Brutus. The other two relevant contexts are the Reign of Terror during the French Revolution, and the high tides of modern history culminating in tyrannicide. In effect, the 'Forty four' passage is seen as an affirmation or even a sacralization of tyrannicide, symbolized by not only by inexplicit references to Brutus and the Israelite heroine Judith. It is a theme which reverberates not only in Dziady but also throughout Adam Mickiewicz's work.
