Abstract

Chaos is an active topic of study in the field of secure communication systems that have garnered much consideration in recent years because of excessive sensitivity to a simple change in its initial conditions. In this paper, the essential features of the suggested WINDMI chaotic system like the phase portraits of the attractors, bifurcation, PSD, correlation, and balance property of the windmi chaotic system have been depicted in detail through MATLAB tools simulations and circuital application. The bifurcation examination detects a wealthy and attractive characteristic of the proposed windmi chaotic oscillator such as periodical multiple bifurcations, has two stable states chaotic demeanor, periodical windows, and recapture bifurcations. In this paper, after exploring the dynamic features of the windmi chaos paradigm, a practical chaotic circuit is implemented on the fpaa chip. Eventually, the circuit practical results of the windmi chaotic attractors present similarities with numerical simulations. The importance of the work is reflected in the use of field programmable analog array in the implementation of the windmi oscillator, and the possibility of varying the initial condition during the operation of the system. An unlimited number of signals can be generated, which enables it to be used as an oscillator utilized in many transceiver systems, that utilized an unlimited number of signals.

Abstract

Field programmable analog arrays (FPAA), thanks to their flexibility and reconfigurability, give the designers quite new possibilities in analog circuit design. The number of both academic projects on FPAA and applications of commercially available programmable devices is still growing. This paper explores the properties and parameters of two most popular FPAA circuits: the AnadigmVortex AN221E04 and AnadigmApex AN231E04 from the Anadigm company. The research conducted by the authors led to the discovery of some undocumented features of these devices. Several applications for audio processing were built and tested. The results show that these circuits can be used in medium-demanding audio applications. Thanks to dynamic reconfigurability, they also allow to build an universal analog audio signal processor. These circuits can also act as a versatile platform for rapid prototyping and educational purposes.

Abstract

This work proposes an optimum design and implementation of fractional-order Butterworth filter of order (1 + α), with the help of analog reconfigurable field-programmable analog array (FPAA). The designed filter coefficients are obtained after dual constraint optimization to balance the tradeoffs between magnitude error and stability margin together. The resulting filter ensures better robustness with less sensitivity to parameter variation and minimum least square error (LSE) in magnitude responses, passband and stopband errors as well as a better –3 dB normalized frequency approximation at 1  rad/s and a stability margin. Finally, experimental results have shown both lowpass and highpass fractional step values. The FPAA-configured outputs represent the possibility to implement the real-time fractional filter behavior with close approximation to the theoretical design.

Abstract

This paper presents exemplary exercise on the fundamentals of signal processing course which is offered for second year bachelor level students. Application of Field Programmable Analog Array (FPAA) for pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) exercise is described with signal processing laboratory. There are presented two methods for implementing PAM modulation and demodulation technique in FPAA module. Example configuration files are available form Authors’ web site.
