Abstract

Analytical design of the PID-type controllers for linear plants based on the magnitude optimum criterion usually results in very good control quality and can be applied directly for high-order linear models with dead time, without need of any model reduction. This paper brings an analysis of properties of this tuning method in the case of the PI controller, which shows that it guarantees closed-loop stability and a large stability margin for stable linear plants without zeros, although there are limitations in the case of oscillating plants. In spite of the fact that the magnitude optimum criterion prescribes the closed-loop response only for low frequencies and the stability margin requirements are not explicitly included in the design objective, it reveals that proper open-loop behavior in the middle and high frequency ranges, decisive for the closed-loop stability and robustness, is ensured automatically for the considered class of linear systems if all damping ratios corresponding to poles of the plant transfer function without the dead-time term are sufficiently high.

Abstract

Coexisting self-excited and hidden attractors for the same set of parameters in dissipative dynamical systems are more interesting, important, and difficult compared to other classes of hidden attractors. By utilizing of nonlinear state feedback controller on the popular Sprott- S system to construct a new, unusual 4D system with only one nontrivial equilibrium point and two control parameters. These parameters affect system behavior and transformation from hidden attractors to self-excited attractors or vice versa. As compared to traditional similar kinds of systems with hidden attractors, this system is distinguished considering it has (��-2) positive Lyapunov exponents with maximal Lyapunov exponent. In addition, the coexistence of multi-attractors and chaotic with 2-torus are found in the system through analytical results and experimental simulations which include equilibrium points, stability, phase portraits, and Lyapunov spectrum. Furthermore, the anti-synchronization realization of two identical new systems is done relying on Lyapunov stability theory and nonlinear controllers strategy. lastly, the numerical simulation confirmed the validity of the theoretical results.

Abstract

A large class of nonlinear systems can be represented or well approximated by Takagi- Sugeno (TS) fuzzy models, which in theory can approximate a general nonlinear system to an arbitrary degree of accuracy. The TS fuzzy model consists of a fuzzy rule base. The rule antecedents partition a given subspace of the model variables into fuzzy regions, while the consequent of each rule is usually a linear or affine model, valid locally in the corresponding region. In this paper, the observer design problem for a T-S fuzzy system subject to Lypschitz perturbation is investigated. First, an observer of Kalman type is designed to estimate the unknown system states. Then, the class of one-sided Lipschitz for a TS fuzzy system subject to a sufficient condition on the bound is studied. The challenges are discussed and some analysis oriented tools are provided. An example is given to show the applicability of the main result.

Abstract

The concepts of full-order and reduced-order observers are extended to the fractional linear continuous-time systems. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the observers for fractional linear systems are established. Procedures for designing of the observers are given and illustrated by examples.

Abstract

Propofol infusion in anesthesia administration requires continual adjustment in the manual infusion system to regulate the hypnosis level. Hypnotic level is based on Bispectral Index Monitor (BIS) showing the cortical activity of the brain scaled between 0 to 100. The new challenging aspect of automation in anaesthesia is to estimate the concentration of hypnotic drugs in different compartments of the body including primary, rapid peripheral (muscle), slow peripheral (bones, fat) and effect site (brain) compartment based on Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacodynamics (PD) model. This paper aimed to regulate the hypnosis level with estimating the Propofol concentrations using a linear observer in feedback control strategy based on Integral Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Controller (ISTSMC). The drug concentration in plasma of the silico patients accurately estimated in nominal transient. The results show that tracking errors between the actual output in form of BIS level and linearized output nearly approaches to zero in the maintenance phase of anesthesia to ensure the controller response on sliding phase with optimum performances by achieving desired hypnotic level 50 on BIS. The robustness of control strategy is further ensured by adding measurement noise of electromagnetic environment of operation theatre distracting signal quality index of the output BIS level.

Abstract

This work addresses the problem of adaptive observer design for nonlinear systems satisfying incremental quadratic constraints. The output of the system includes nonlinear terms, which puts an additional strain on the design and feasibility of the observer, which is guaranteed under the satisfaction of an LMI, and a set of algebraic constraints. A particular case where the output nonlinearity matches the unknown parameter coefficient is also discussed. The result is illustrated through a numerical example for the chaos synchronization of the Rössler system.

Abstract

In this work, we present results for a new dissipative jerk chaotic system with three quadratic terms in its dynamics.We describe the bifurcation analysis for the new jerk system and also show that the proposed system exhibits multi-stability. Next, we describe a backstepping control-based synchronization design for a pair of new jerk chaotic systems. MATLAB simulations are put forth to exhibit the various findings in this work. Furthermore, we exhibit a circuit simulation for the new jerk system using MultiSim.

Abstract

In model predictive control (MPC), methods of linear offset free MPC are well established such as the disturbance model, the observer method and the state disturbance observer method. However, the observer gain in those methods is difficult to define. Based on the drawbacks observed in those methods, a novel algorithm is proposed to guarantee offset-free MPC under model-plant mismatches and disturbances by combining the two proposed methods which are the proposed Recursive Kalman estimated state method and the proposed Disturbance-Kalman state method. A comparison is made from existing methods to assess the ability of providing offset-free MPC onWood-Berry distillation column. Results shows that the proposed offset free MPC algorithm has better disturbance rejection performance than the existing algorithms.

Abstract

The recently proposed q-rung dual hesitant fuzzy sets ( q-RDHFSs) not only deal with decision makers’ (DMs’) hesitancy and uncertainty when evaluating the performance of alternatives, but also give them great liberty to express their assessment information comprehensively. This paper aims to propose a new multiple attribute decision-making (MADM) method where DMs’ evaluative values are in form of q-rung dual hesitant fuzzy elements ( q-RDHFEs). Firstly, we extend the powerful Schweizer-Sklar q-norm and t-conorm (SSTT) to q-RDHFSs and propose novel operational rules of q-RDHFEs. The prominent advantage of the proposed operations is that they have important parameters q and r, making the information fusion procedure more flexible. Secondly, to effectively cope with the interrelationship among attributes, we extend the Hamy mean (HM) to q-RDHFSs and based on the newly developed operations, we propose the q-rung dual hesitant fuzzy Schweizer-Sklar Hamy mean ( q-RDHFSSHM) operator, and the q-rung dual hesitant fuzzy Schweizer-Sklar weighted Hamy mean ( q-RDHFSSWHM) operator. The properties of the proposed operators, such as idempotency, boundedness and monotonicity are discussed in detail. Third, we propose a new MADM method based on the q-RDHFSSWHM operator and give the main steps of the algorithm. Finally, the effectiveness, flexibility and advantages of the proposed method are discussed through numerical examples.

Computer file of the manuscript may be sent by e-mail to the address of Assistant Editor or acs@polsl.pl. Preferred text processors is TeX or LaTeX, however Word and other processors are also acceptable. In case of difficulties in processing the text, the author may be asked to supply the ASCII export of the original file.

Manuscripts sent via ordinary post should be typewritten double-spaced on one side of a standard size (A4) paper. Left side margin should be approximately 3cm (1.2'') wide. Each page should contain approximately 30 lines of 60 characters each. The manuscript including figures and tables together with their captions should be submitted. A separate signed letter giving the Author's preferred address for correspondence and return of proofs should be enclosed. Manuscript is the basis for editorial work.

First page should include the title of the paper, first name(s) and surname(s) of the Author(s), and a short summary (abstract), not longer than 20 lines.

Keywords of max. 5 - 7 items should be included in manuscript.

Numeration. All chapters, including the introduction, should be numbered in arabic numerals. Equations, tables and figures as well as theorems, corollaries, examples etc., should be numbered consecutively throughout the paper in arabic numerals, except in appendices. Appendices should be numbered with capital letters, and numeration should be closed within individual appendices.

If the manuscript is not prepared with TeX, mathematical expressions should be carefully written so as not to arouse confusion. Care should be taken that subscripts and superscripts are easily readable.

Tables and figures should be placed as desired by the Author within the text or on separate sheets with their suggested location indicated by the number of table or figure in the text.
