Abstract

The Triassic red clays from the northern margin of the Holy Cross Mts contain greenish grey clayey interlayers and nests. All the three rock types are similar in their mineral composition except for the presence of hematite in the red clays. With regard to the kind and content of clay minerals (micas including), the rocks are distinctly polymineral. Almost as a rule they do not contain carbonate minerals, representing thus a non-calcareous variety of clayey rocks. Also, their content oforganic matter is low, both in the main mass ofthe red clays and in their greenish grey interlayers and nests. The grain size distributions of the clays are generally characterized by elevated shares of the silt fraction, which result - among others - in relatively high median values, reaching I O μm. Firing curves of all the clay varietes are typical ofnon-calcareous raw materials. Some differences in the values of technological ceramic parameters and also in characteristic firing temperatures have been caused by variations in the content of iron oxides. As the latter are minor constituents in the greenish grey interlayers and nests, sintering of these clay varieties is inferior when compared to the basic mass of the red clayey raw material.

Abstract

Coal characterized by relatively high phosphorous content (Pa) occurs in the examined seams, which is disadvantageous during coke production. The best properties has coal in seams 357/1, 360/1 and 401/1. Phosphorous content changes in a broad range from 0.006 to 0.220%, with the mean value from 0.05 I to 0.079%. Evaluation made with the use of kriging gave results differing from these values by 0.006%, at highest (seam 403/1). Variability of phosphorous content in the examined seams was determined as high, and only in the case of the most weakly recognized seam (404/2) it was determined as average. Variability structure shows twofold character. The first group comprises seams, in the case of which semi-variograms were approximated by linear, spherical or sum of spherical and Gaussian model (seams 357/1, 360/1, 361, 401/1 and 403/1). The second group consists of seams, in the case of which semi-variograms were approximated by single nugget effect model (seams 363 and 404/2).

Abstract

The asbestos is mineral, which due to its properties (the softness, the pliability, the resistance to the fire) was applied in different spheres oflive for thousands years. In the article the world's production of the asbestos in the XX century and the structure ofmanufacturing of asbestos' products (due to asbestos' properties, it was taken in about 3000 technologies) are analyzed. The places where deposits of the asbestos occur, are pointed out. Influence of asbestos' products on the human health is analyzed. The production of asbestos is completely forbidden in the European Union because of its negative influence on the human health. In the article it is paid attention to legislation concerning safe using and removing products containing asbestos.

Abstract

In the paper there is described a procedure of construction of geological and mining data bases for longwalls which are commonly used in Polish hard coal mining. The bases can be used for simulation of future workings and theirs results both in engineering and economic relations. Due to high degree of uncertainty characterized mining operations it is useful to determine probability distributions of investigated parameters. The examples shown in the paper relate to different longwalls from geological and equipment point of view.

Abstract

In article the structural parameters of function of production for branch ofmining of hard coal in Poland was estimated. In result of reform carried out in mining the reports change between expenditures factors of production such the labour and capital and the got productive effects. The function of production permits to study elasticity of factors of production, possibility of their substitution, productiveness and marginal productiveness of human labour and engaged capital, influence of factor ofthe technical and organizational progress on the production and, in sure range, to define in future the demand on analysed factors of production in case ofchange of size production or conditions the utilization of factors also, particularly the capital, that is the range of investing in mining.

Abstract

It has been disscussed a tightness ofobjects- geological structures within hydrocarbon deposits and within deep aquifers, destined to underground carbon dioxide storage. There has been characterized a geological and engineering tightness ofsuch objects together with a definition ofbasic concepts of the domain. There occured references to Polish experience concerning tightness of natural gas underground reservoirs, as well as to an industrial implementation of the acid gas sequestration technology in Poland

Abstract

The Szczakowa sand pitworks the sand deposit in the area ofcomplicated geological structure as well as direct and indirect hydraulic connections between the Quaternary, Triassic and Carboniferous groundwater horizons. Gravitational drainage of the pit, carried on with the dense systems of canals and ditches, caused significant changes in the aquatic environment, particularly in the Quaternary groundwater horizon. These changes are intensified by the influence of adjacent Zn-Pb ore mines and water wells. Current conditions of groundwater flows were reconstructed with the numeric model of filtration area. This model was applied to simulation and prognosing of hydrogeological conditions after the closure of mining operations and during the remediation of the pit towards the recreation purposes. The final hydrodynamic pattern was prognosed within the Quaternary-Triassic groundwater horizon together with the expected flow rates in natural surface flows, canals and ditches. Moreover, the areas of prognosed depression or impression of groundwater table were identified.

Abstract

The theoretical basis and experimental results for the fluidized fine jet grinding of granular substances are presented in the paper. The experiment contained grinding tests oflimestone in turbulent fluidized layer conditions of the fluidized bed opposed jet mill. The aim of researches was to explain the influence of selected parameters process: the initial graining and the fed mass in the mill, the values ofworking air overpressure, the rotational speed of classifier rotor and duration of grinding on the efficiency of mill (Part I article) and on the particle size distribution of grinding product (Part II article).
