Abstract

The subject of the research was partly weathered leucogranite occurring as an accompanying rock in the marble quarry of Sławniowice. The paper presents the results of the raw material processing through magnetic separation and froth flotation, as well as possible branches of ceramics, in which the products of beneticiation could be utilized. After desliming and two-stage magnetic separation the content of colouring oxides (Fe2O3 + TiO2) was reduced from 0,54% to 0,23%. In a further process, in which feldspars and quartz were separated by froth flotation, the content of alkalis in flotation concentrate increased to almost 11%, with alkalis ratio ca. 1, 1, while the content of Fe2O3 and TiO2 were lowered to ca. 0,2% and 0,045%, respectively. According to the Polish standard BN-83/6714-0 I, the obtained feldspar concentrate could be classified as feldspar-quartz flour of variety I grade I. Despite high content of alkalis, the utilization ofexamined raw material in the production of sanitary ware by the fast firing method or manufacturing of china is doubtful due to high content of colouring oxides as well as significant costs of the rock processing to obtain product of suitable quality. In the light of research previously carried on, the best and the most effective way of utilisation of the feldspar-quartz rock from Sławniowice is the production of ceramic tiles, as the raw material parameters - even after simple grinding and homogenization - are adequate to the tile industry standards.

Abstract

Results of tests on the applicability of clinoptylolite and diatomite for removing of impurities from water solutions are presented and synthesized. Clinoptylolite from Slovakia proved effective in removing ammonium ions from low-hardness solutions and its regeneration is carried out with the use of sodium chloride. Both clinoptylolite and diatomite (from Polish source) sorbed oil related impurities from water solutions. Spent sorbents were thermally regenerated. Tested minerals constituted also a good basis for growth and immobilization of microorganisms which run the process of nitrification and biodegradation of oil related substances.

Abstract

In article the problem of estimation of optimum expenditure of factors of productions such work and capital in mining of hard coal was presented. As criterion of optimization was applied the minimization of cost of producing. The value of production was circumscribed the exponential function of Cobb-Douglas type, and the cost of production - the linear function. Regard on character of function of aim, to solution of question was applied non - linear programming method after introduction to function of indeterminated Lagrange factors.

Abstract

The paper analyses the corporate strategic activity aimed to improve the management, form new structures and ensure the continuous development. Special attention was paid on lean and integration strategies giving new opportunities for company development and its efficient operation. Each option has weak and strong sides, thus choosing one of them needs detailed analyze of company environment. The lean strategy for copper mining company was presented as a case study.

Abstract

The paper belongs to the cycle describing creation of data bases for hard coal mine workings. The main principles of data bases creation for roadways which have been driven in different geological and mining conditions are described. The bases can be used for simulation of future workings and theirs results mainly in engineering relations. They can be also used to determine probability distributions of investigated parameters. The examples shown in the paper relate to roadways driven in different geological and mining conditions.

Abstract

This article showed examples of using the post-optimal analysis method to illustrate the possibilities of adjusting formally optimal production plans of coalmines to actual market conditions. The presented examples of correct production plans, achieved with the use of the Simplex algorithm, are accomplished without the utilization of optimization procedures, and with parallel elimination of non-linear optimization problem.

Abstract

There have been presented results of research on reservoir rock reaction to CO2, obtained so far, due to estimate their use for carbon dioxide geological sequestration needs. Execution of laboratory test on CO2 influence on rock samples from chosen Mesozoic aquifers, in deposit conditions (pressure, temperature, presence of brine) have been suggested. The research results should allow to define substantial rock features and to display problems combined with mutual influence and reaction between CO2, rock and brine, when injecting carbon dioxide into a reservoir. Results of laboratory experiments used as a part of input data in digital simulation and modeling of mineral-solution reaction equilibria, employing the PHREEQC software, should allow to render precisely real processes occurring in geological structure when injecting carbon dioxide.

Abstract

The main goal of the paper was the evaluation of the Solina and Myczkowce Water Storage Reservoirs influence on water environment after over 30 years of functioning. It presents the characteristic of both reservoirs and water dams (gravity - Solina and rock-filled - Myczkowce), taking into account their main functions and geological-hydrogeological conditions. During the Master's Thesis practice (September 2003) the author measured the level of ground water table in 58 dug wells around the reservoirs. The measurements were used to create a map of Quaternary groundwater horizon. The main water !low is directed towards the lakeside. One can observe the drainage character of rivers and streams. Further research work was based on Solina-Myczkowce Hydropower Plants' database for the period of 1995-2001. The author presented the surface water fluctuation of Solina and Myczkowce reservoirs and the San river above and below the reservoirs, as well as groundwater table fluctuation in 3 monitoring wells. Following, both high and low waters are synchronous, and the fluctuation of the San river is smooth below the reservoirs. One can observe a great influence of the large reservoir, which provides water regulation. Due to low land development of the area groundwater table fluctuations are barely noticeable and no hydrogeological damages have been reported.
