Description

STUDIA SOCJOLOGICZNE is a Polish sociological quarterly, published since 1961. Its publishers are the Polish Academy of Sciences (represented by the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology and the Committee on Sociology), as well as the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology, University of Warsaw (from 2013).

STUDIA SOCJOLOGICZNE welcomes articles in Polish and English from all sociological fields and neighbouring disciplines (as long as the authors apply a broadly defined sociological approach). Preference is given to texts that contribute to the advancement of social theory and are empirically grounded and innovative in their conceptual and methodological outlook. More at www.studiasocjologiczne.pl .

Articles published in STUDIA SOCJOLOGICZNE are indexed in Scopus, EBSCO, CEEOL, CEJSH, Social Science Citation Index, Social Scisearch, Proquest, Index Copernicus. Abstract

Artykuł kontynuuje zapoczątkowaną w numerze 3/2020 „Studiów Socjologicznych” prezentację paradygmatu demokratycznego elityzmu. Skupia się na dwóch ogólnych zagadnieniach: roli elit w zmianie systemu politycznego oraz na relacjach między elitą a masami. W pierwszej kwestii najwięcej uwagi poświęcono koncepcji porozumienia elit Michaela Burtona i Johna Higleya, którą autorzy uważają za najlepszą drogę ku demokracji. Stwarza bowiem warunki wszystkim wiodącym siłom politycznym na przeżycie politycznego kryzysu, co stabilizuje środowisko polityczne i zwiększa szanse dojścia do skonsolidowanej demokracji. Zagadnienie relacji między elitami a masami, wspólne dla teorii elit i teorii demokracji, opisane jest poprzez wskazanie na personalizację polityki i podkreślenie zmian, jakie w procesach reprezentacji politycznej nastąpiły w ostatnich dekadach, gdy model demokracji partyjnej zaczął słabnąć. Prowadzić to może do „demokracji widowni” lub „demokracji liderów”. Ogólna konkluzja jest taka, że tezy demokratycznego elityzmu w znacznej mierze zostały inkorporowane do teorii reprezentatywnej demokracji.

Abstract

Przedmiotem artykułu są uchwały Sejmu RP, których celem jest upamiętnienie wybranych postaci, instytucji i zdarzeń. Główne pytanie badawcze to kwestia ich skuteczności jako medium pamięci w Polsce. Na przykładzie wybranej instytucji kultury (Muzeum Śląska Opolskiego w Opolu) przeanalizowano praktyczne znaczenie uchwał sejmowych jako mediów pamięci zbiorowej. Sejm upamiętnił powstania śląskie w badanym okresie (od początku prac Sejmu X kadencji do 28.02.2017 roku) w ośmiu uchwałach. Powstania przedstawione zostały jako jeden z wielu czynów zbrojnych Polaków, co budzi zastrzeżenia zwłaszcza na Górnym Śląsku. Wywiady przeprowadzone z trzema kolejnymi dyrektorkami Muzeum Śląska Opolskiego pokazują, że uchwały upamiętniające są nieznane lub słabo znane. Nie stanowią bezpośredniego odniesienia w praktyce muzealnej. To kalendarz rocznicowy jest synchronizatorem działań różnych aktorów pamięci w państwie narodowym.

Abstract

Power distance is one of the most researched dimensions of culture in Geert Hofstede’s framework. The vast majority of scholars refer to power distance as though it were something self-evident. Despite the hundreds of studies conducted on the basis of power distance, to date no one has seriously tried to propose a reconceptualization of power distance. Against that background, this paper aims to redefine Hofstede’s concept of power distance. It focuses on formulating a sketch of the three-level concept of power distance that essentially refers to Hofstedian tradition, but is at the same time entangled in different ontological and epistemological assumptions on the social world. The proposed way of understanding power distance creates space for, among other things, a more interactionfocused study on power dynamics in various settings. It also provides the possibility of formulating completely new hypotheses concerning psychological and sociological dimensions of exercising power.

Abstract

Decyzje w polityce społecznej podejmowane z użyciem algorytmów wpływają na jakość życia ludzi na świecie. Niedostępność algorytmów utrudnia ocenę ich wiarygodności. Nie wiadomo, czy modele statystyczne dobrano i zastosowano prawidłowo. Czy dane były wiarygodne? Autorzy podejmują ten ogólniejszy problem na przykładzie jednego z pierwszych algorytmów wdrożonych w Polsce: narzędzia profilowania bezrobotnych. Algorytm miał mierzyć potencjał osób bezrobotnych i na tej podstawie pomóc dzielić je na grupy o zróżnicowanym prawie dostępu do aktywizacji zawodowej. Opierając się na analizie dokumentów urzędowych, uzupełnionych o dane jakościowe i ilościowe, autorzy prześledzili decyzje podejmowane podczas konstrukcji algorytmu i dokonali metaanalizy statystycznej tego narzędzia. W artykule dowodzą, że algorytm profilowania nie spełniał podstawowych standardów metodologicznych: dane o osobach bezrobotnych były nierzetelne, błędnie zastosowano model psychometryczny, nieprawidłowo skonceptualizowano podstawową zmienną, formuły matematycznej nie dostosowywano do wyników analiz, lecz do poczynionych z góry założeń.
